Harry Potter is a literary series of fantasy written by the British author J.K Rowling, whose romance was completed in 2007. A play, considered the official "eighth story", was played and published in 2016.
The series of seven novels tells the adventures of a young wizard named Harry Potter and of his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft, directed by Albus Dumbledore. The main plot of theseries stages the fight from Harry against Lord Voldemort, a dark wizard in search of immortality having once murdered the parents of the boy. At the head of his faithful followers, the Death Eaters, Voldemort has been trying for decades to gain absolute power over the world of wizards and muggles, humans without magical powers.
Since therelease of the first novel, Harry Potter atthe Wizard School, on June 26, 1997, the books have gained immense popularity, represented a commercial success and have been acclaimed by critics. In February 2018, they were sold at more than 500 million number of copies and translated into 80 languages, making this series the most widely sold the history of literature. J. K. Rowling is now among British writers the most read on the planet with William Shakespeare and Agatha Christie.
